This position will provide leadership for the discipline of planning by building and organizing the planning capabilities and functions for Dewberry. The Planning Group Lead will develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for new revenue creation and maximizing revenue from existing clients through the incorporation of planning activities such as, forecasting, needs assessments, and master plans across multiple market segments and service lines.

This position will focus the planning efforts of Dewberry to maximize the existing planning talent of the staff to expand Dewberry's market capability and reach to benefit the communities we serve.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a minimum of fifteen years' experience in leading and providing planning services for a variety of clients. Must have excellent communication skills and have a working familiarity with all areas of planning from client and team leadership to financial management. Responsible for the execution planning, supervision, and timely completion of projects. Must possess knowledge of the entire planning delivery process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on selling planning services to new and existing clients, with intent to position for future architecture and engineering opportunities.
  • Assess company-wide planning services and capabilities to build trusted internal relationships and leverage existing expertise
  • Expand the bench of planning talent for completing projects across the company's service markets.
  • Provide analytical guidance for planning projects across the organization.
  • Build and maintain a positive relationship with key client contacts while maintaining confidentiality to support guidance in business strategy and planning.
  • Conduct executive level interviews and presentations.
  • Able to produce high quality planning deliverables that meet client expectations in collaboration with larger team
  • Manage and mentor junior staff to expand planning capabilities


Required Skills & Required Experience

Fifteen years planning and programming experience focused on project management and delivery of vision and missions, needs assessments, forecasts, space plans and master plans. Significant experience delivering projects in remote locations and leading collaborative team building with diverse stakeholders.

  • Master's degree in planning, architecture, or public administration.
  • AICP Certification.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills required.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; Knowledge and ability to use analytical and problem-solving techniques. Ability to generate a variety of forecasts and projections for internal and client use.
  • Ability to complete tasks and produce deliverables independently while incorporating collaborative input throughout the process.
  • Lead and manage multidiscipline planning team efforts for forecasting, programming, and master planning,
  • Distills complex information to the essential for client decision-making.
  • Significant project management experience, delivering projects in remote locations.
  • Ability to lead with influence and deliver on client expectations across multiple disciplines
  • Experience in Justice Planning preferred.
  • Experience in Federal, Military or DOD Planning preferred.
  • Travel may be required.
