MT Maintenance Mechanic (Building Mechanic)

The University of Maryland has an immediate opening at our IBBR Facilities in Shady Grove, Rockville MD for a building mechanic. This position will assist skilled trades staff at our IBBR facilities with routine maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and air conditioning systems.

Must have at least 3 years of experience in general building maintenance and construction. A valid Maryland Class C driver’s license or equivalent with fewer than 6 points is required. Position is Essential and subject to recall 24/7/365 as well as on a rotating schedule, including mandatory overtime for weather related or emergency situations. Standard work hours are Mon-Fri 6:00-2:30. Salary range starts at $34,977 with starting salary being commensurate with experience. UM offers a full benefit package including health insurance, tuition remission for employee and family, and State retirement with the ability to participate in supplemental retirement plans. Starting leave benefits include: 11 days annual leave, 3 personal days, 15 sick days and 14 paid holidays per year.
