Principal Analyst, Capital Markets & Risk

Are you interested in working for a dynamic and innovative team that will take your career to the next level? As a Principal Analyst on ALCO Strategy, you will be part of an exciting team tasked with helping drive critical decisions within the Capital Markets and Analytics (CMA) department and among the company's expanding portfolio of businesses. You will support Capital One's Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of CMA in driving their strategic agenda with the Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer, and Executive Committee.

This position will enable the associate to gain a broad experience with several different CMA areas, including funding, liquidity management, investment portfolio management, interest rate risk management, resolution & recovery planning, and capital management. This role has recurring deliverables to support our Liquidity and Market Risk Committee (LMRC), Resolution and Recovery Planning Committee (RRPC), Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO) and Board of Directors meetings, which will require the associate to partner with subject matter experts across the department and the broader organization to gather data and clearly communicate information through slide decks and memos. In addition to regular LMRC, RRPC, ALCO, and Board-related deliverables, this associate will also be involved in ad-hoc strategy projects, usually for our Senior Management Committees or the Board of Directors. Potential projects include the impact of acquisitions, new regulatory reforms, or business expansions on balance sheet management.

This role affords a candidate the exceptional opportunity to provide support in evaluating some of the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing the corporation and the banking industry today. Successful candidates will have a unique opportunity to learn about Capital One's different businesses within and outside of the CMA department and how they impact our balance sheet strategy.

The ideal candidate will have strong written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced project-driven environment, the ability to handle multiple assignments and timelines simultaneously, and a proven track record of successfully building strong working relationships with peers.

Responsibilities:

- Manage the agenda, calendars, and communication strategy for monthly LMRC meetings

- Support monthly reporting cycles for the LMRC, ALCO, and Board distributions

- Develop and execute financial analyses to support executive presentations for LMRC, RRPC, ALCO, and Board meetings

- Maintain strong business partnerships with internal clients and subject matter experts within and outside of CMA

- Develop special topic presentations for ALCO, Board, and ad-hoc projects

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in the financial services

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 6 years of experience in financial services industry
  • At least 1 year of people management experience
  • Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
