Director of Development, Corporate GivingOffice of Advancement and Alumni RelationsThe George Mason University Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations, within the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), seeks a goal-oriented and collaborative Director of Development, Corporate Giving. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Successful execution of a comprehensive fundraising program that appropriately partners with and leverages resources from the central advancement team to accomplish objectives;Oversee strategies and implementation of major and principal gifts from corporate prospects for CEC, in concert with central Advancement Corporate & Foundations team;Design, implement and manage a tiered approach for organizing and prioritizing outreach strategies and activities to target high-priority and high-value corporate and foundation partnerships;Identify emerging business leadership and industry trends with a special emphasis on developing high-value corporate alliances, with the ultimate goal to identify, cultivate, and solicit five-, six- and ultimately seven-plus-figure philanthropic commitments to support the mission and goals of the university;Identify and initiate opportunities for faculty, administrators, and deans to interact with corporate and foundation prospects in order to match corporate and foundation interests with various university constituencies;Coordinate with department Capstone faculty on corporate support to Capstone projects;Maintain a personal portfolio of 75-100 prospects of corporate and individual donors for major, planned, and principal level gifts (adhering to metrics established by Central Advancement and Alumni Relations);Assist Sr. Director of Advancement to redesign the Corporate Partner program for CEC and manage the program once established;As appropriate, personally responsible for the direct solicitation of gifts and for preparing the Dean, members of School advisory boards, and members of the school's Advancement team; faculty and staff, and other members of the College and/or University to make solicitations;Coordinate the efforts of those who can assist in fundraising; tracks contacts, asks, and funds raised; drafts proposals and pledge agreements for potential donors; proposes and coordinates appropriate cultivation and stewardship activities; and responds to corporate documentation requests as needed;Lead and manage major gift staff in CEC Advancement team expected to be hired next year; andTravel as necessary for donor outreach and cultivation.Required Qualifications:The ideal candidate must be entrepreneurial, goal-oriented, collegial, and collaborative;Master's degree in a related field and demonstrated successful professional advancement and/or fundraising-related experience, preferably in higher education; or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill, and abilities have been achieved;Demonstrated record of successful major gift solicitations and experience designing and executing donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies;Excellent research, writing, and interpersonal communication skills;Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting continuous deadlines;A creative approach to involve and solicit major donor prospects and possess the ability to motivate;Demonstrated experience with personnel management;Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and experience with documenting appropriate information in a donor management database system; andPossess a valid driver's license; ability to travel independently and ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.Preferred Qualifications:Minimum of seven years' experience in major gifts fundraising, preferably in higher education;Possess understanding and the ability to articulate the accomplishments and goals of a complex organization;Familiarity with CRM fundraising software; andDemonstrate sound judgment necessary for interacting with donors, prospects, trustees, faculty and staff.A Force for Innovation in the Heart of Northern Virginia's Technology CorridorThe College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) at George Mason University is comprised of the Volgenau School of Engineering and a new School of Computing.
