Wastewater Operator/Trainee Public Works

Wastewater Plant Operator:  Performs skilled operating work at a Municipal Wastewater Treatment plant. This is a six month training position where the employee will receive on the job training to work at Wastewater Pumping Station, Lab, General Maintenance and Belt Press Operations. After six months, the employee will be expected to work weekends, independently, once every six weeks. Upon the successful completion of the six month training, the employee will be promoted to Wastewater Operator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience Ability to lift 50 pounds. Knowledge of wastewater treatment or microbiology Basic computer knowledge Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Relevant professional mechanical or electrical experience

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

• Ability to obtain a temporary State Operator’s Certification as a Wastewater Plant Operator within 90 days of hire. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a 5A State Operator’s Certificate as a Wastewater Plant Operator

Salary:  $21.46 Hourly
