Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a UI/UX Designer with demonstrated experience delivering user centric design products, preferably in support of federal clients. The UI/UX Designer will work closely with the Senior Product Designer to understand client vision and user needs to develop an accessible, seamless user experience on internal and external site platforms. The UI/UX Designer will support stakeholder interviews, wireframe development, information architecture, and front-end development, while recommending design-centered improvements to existing content pages.

This mid-level full-time position is remote. This is a contingent hire position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assess content, design, and structure of current client websites.
  • Propose solutions for organizing and displaying content.
  • Audit website content to inform site organization and architecture.
  • Support development of design wireframes, functional elements, and graphics.
  • Facilitate stakeholder and user interview sessions.
  • Support delivery of a fully functional website with content approved by the client.
  • Monitor websites to ensure designs operate effectively.
  • Support the Senior Product Designer in fulfilling client requirements as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of user centered design experience across multiple platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Human-Centered Design Certification or similar preferred.
  • Experience supporting large federal agencies, ideally the Department of Defense.
  • Experience with UI/UX design platforms, such as Adobe XD.
  • Active Public Trust security clearance preferred; ability to obtain one required.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Client Information

The Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) (USD(C)) is the Principal Staff Assistant and advisor to the Secretary of Defense for budgetary and financial matters. The Director, Human Capital and Resource Management (HCRM) serves as the principal assistant to the USD(C) for the following responsibilities: provide mission-enabling services to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) (OUSD(C)), including resource management, personnel, facilities, and correspondence control; and manage DoD-wide Financial Management (FM) workforce development.
