Testing Center Assistant and Special Projects, Disability ServicesGeorge Mason University, Office of Disability Services, invites applications for the position of the Disability Services Testing Center Assistant and Special Projects, reporting to the Director of Disability Services. This position is a dual role in the Disability Services Testing Center and Disability Services main office.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Location:Mainly Fairfax campus, occasionally Arlington and Science and Technology campus.Hours/Schedule:Part-time: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9:30am-3:00pm; Tuesday 8:30am-2:30pm. Flexible hours (during the time frame 7am-10pm) during fall and spring mid-terms and finals.Responsibilities:Disability Services Testing CenterThe Testing Center Assistant is responsible for maintaining secure exam delivery and superior customer service in a comfortable friendly educational environment. The Assistant will effectively collaborate with faculty, staff, and students regarding testing policies and procedures. This position requires strict adherence to university policies and understands and complies with all testing procedures. This position will assist with the day-to-day operations of the testing center. The candidate will be responsible for verifying student identification, proctoring examinees while testing, maintaining a secure testing environment, and using a student database containing confidential personal information; work closely with faculty and students to schedule exams, and verify accommodations; act as a scribe or reader when necessary; and complete other duties as assigned.Disability Services Main OfficeThe Assistant will assist the Disability Services Main office with special projects (e.g., research, updating policies/procedures, record keeping, event planning); maintain the note-taking system; update, monitor, and post on social media platforms; provide front desk coverage; assist with table fairs; and other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:A bachelor's degree in rehabilitation counseling, special education, educational psychology, or related field; or relevant work experience;Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office;Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills;Ability to multitask, be detail-oriented, and maintain confidentiality; andAbility to work in a fast-pace environment.Preferred Qualifications:A minimum of two years of customer service experience;Experience working with students who have disabilities and working knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the ADAA of 2008, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and other appropriate laws.
