Director of Clinical OperationsThe George Mason University School of Nursing within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) is launching a search for the Director of Clinical Operations. The School currently offers Baccalaureate, Master's, DNP, and PhD degrees. The School of Nursing prepares students for interdisciplinary roles as clinicians, educators, researchers, and administrators. Our students learn to address the challenges of a rapidly changing and diverse health care environment with hands-on experience in our simulation and skills labs. The Mason nurse will engage in experiential learning in diverse settings, including our nurse-led community clinics to address social inequities seen beyond the walls of acute care settings. Their experience working with the culturally diverse patient population in the northern Virginia area will provide them with the necessary skills to deliver health care where it's needed the most. The call to action to increase the role of the nurse in primary care will differentiate the Mason nurse as a health care change agent throughout the continuum of care.About the Position:The incumbent oversees both undergraduate and graduate clinical placement, and will lead clinical adjunct faculty and preceptor recruitment efforts for the School. The Director of Clinical Operations will provide a vision and leadership for student placement to meet the challenges presented by growing competition for student placement by other local nursing and allied health schools.Responsibilities:Works with health-care agency partners to arrange appropriate placement of BSN level students in clinical settings;Assists MSN and DNP students to find and secure placement;Ensures all agency competency and compliance documentation is submitted and maintained;Conducts site visits to clinical agencies to maintain Mason presence and to new agencies to expand clinical placement opportunities;Provides oversight of all School of Nursing infrastructure and processes that support clinical operations across undergraduate and graduate programs, including the Mason On-Line MSN FNP program;Establishes, evaluates, and monitors all processes and procedures that support clinical operations infrastructure;Plans and implements adjunct faculty orientation in collaboration with program coordinators and directors;Collaborates with program coordinators and directors to identify clinical placement needs and develop and implement strategies to further develop clinical practice sites, including but not limited to, exploratory site visits;Serves as primary point of communication with clinical practice partners in the community;Supervises the graduate clinic coordinator; andSupervises wage workers hired on an as needed basis to support clinical-related tasks.Required Qualifications:Master's degree (MSN preferred and if non-MSN, Master's with BSN preferred);An unencumbered Virginia Registered Nurse license, or eligibility to obtain upon employment;A minimum of two years recent clinical experience in a health care agency in the northern Virginia area; andGeographical familiarity with the metropolitan DC and northern Virginia area, and familiarity with health care agencies in the region.Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience with student placement and with inter-agency contracts;Previous experience with clinical placements and compliance documents or equivalent;Knowledge of typical health and background requirements for clinical sites; andExperience with software tracking tools for placement and student compliance.
