Senior ProducerR2 Studios, part of the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media (RRCHNM) at George Mason University, seeks a Senior Producer to make historian-driven, deeply researched podcasts. Through immersive storytelling, history told by historians, and balanced perspectives, our shows tell compelling stories from the past that help us understand who we are today. R2 Studios' podcasts are historian-created, extensively researched, and highly produced aimed at a broad public audience.In this role, you will produce one or more of the podcasts created by R2 Studios. You will be involved in every aspect of the shows: pitching episodes, researching ideas, writing scripts, interviewing, identifying music and sound effects, editing, mixing, supervising interns, working with fact checkers, and promotion. You may work on existing shows or help to develop new shows. We are looking for someone who has experience working on heavily researched, highly produced podcasts, with a special emphasis on experience with historically based shows.Located at one of America's most diverse public universities, RRCHNM has a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion and we strongly encourage candidates from typically underrepresented groups in podcast production to apply for this exciting job. All of our work is team-based and the person we hire for this position must work well in teams, must be able to take and give constructive criticism, and must enjoy sharing their successes with all.An example of prior work with an explanation of your role, a resume, and cover letter must be provided for consideration.Responsibilities:Pitch new shows and episodes;Research, write, and edit scripts;Conduct interviews;Fact check episodes;Identify music and sound effects;Mix episodes with music and sound design;Build supplemental materials including webpages, show notes, and transcripts;Support fundraising, marketing, and advertisement efforts; andMentor and supervise student interns working as producers on shows.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in History or a related field; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience;Experience producing podcast, historical podcasting strongly preferred;Considerable (generally 3+ years) experience with a digital audio workstation (Adobe Audition preferred);Experience with sound design;Experience conducting historical research;Experience writing for a public audience;Experience supervising interns and students;Ability to work on multiple projects at once;Ability to meet deadlines;Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment; andPodcast consumer.Preferred Qualifications:Master's Degree or PhD in History; andRecord of successful grant writing.
