The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Assistant Director, to join the Office of Executive Education. One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, Economist and the Wall Street Journal.


As the provider of non degree programming for Maryland Smith, the Assistant Director of Program Development within the Office of Executive Education supports new and existing client outreach and business and program development functions. This role is critical to building a set of program opportunities that build market and brand awareness and revenue attainment for Maryland Smith. The main tasks are to create program budgets, marketing collateral, and prepare draft program RFIs and proposals, support the planning of outreach campaigns, interact with potential clients and learners, and the use of SalesForce and other tools to manage the program pipeline and its growth.


Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS degree required with a minimum of 5 years of work experience, including client service, project management, budget and proposal management experience. Masters degree preferred in any business, education, or other relevant cognate area. Preferences: Excellent written and oral skills; Strong client service values and a high level of enthusiasm in dealing with internal and external clients; Proven ability to make effective use of time, plan ahead, and coordinate multiple projects, while still paying close attention to detail; Ability to work independently as well as in a team; Must be a dynamic customer service oriented person who displays mature judgment and strong organizational skills; Proficiency in current word processing, email, spreadsheet and presentation software; Willingness
and ability to learn proprietary software and audiovisual equipment; Willingness to take on duties outside of specific job functions to serve needs of the School; Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends, travel within the Metro DC area and, on a quarterly basis travel to conferences and client outreach meetings.
