To learn more visit https://science.gmu.edu/About the Position:The I-Corps Sites program was established by the NSF to provide basic entrepreneurial foundations to students and faculty who want to explore the feasibility of bringing their innovations to the marketplace. As part of this activity, the NSF is also focused on developing local innovation ecosystems that can be integrated into the NSF's national network of entrepreneurs, investors, scientists, and mentors, to enhance the Nation's innovation capabilities.This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about innovation and enjoys working with GMU students and faculty to explore the commercial and technical merits of innovative ideas. The Program Manager will help to establish novel programs for enhancing the innovation culture at GMU, with the long-term goal of creating more university startups and teams that can participate in the National I-Corps program. The successful candidate will work closely with the I-Corps Site leadership at Mason to help recruit participants into the program, deliver the I-Corps curriculum, and engage regional stakeholders.Responsibilities:Management and coordination for all I-Corps Site programming and operations, including course offerings, events logistics, and program promotion;Management of the application process for all I-Corps Site applicants, and placement into cohorts;Providing the GMU I-Corps Site leadership with technical assistance, outreach, communications, and reporting;Planning and execution of I-Corps events, such as hackathons and fireside chats with successful entrepreneurs and investors. This work can include sending communications, making A/V preparations, and tracking attendance for both in-person and virtual programming;Creating and sending out announcements and other communications regarding I-Corps and related activities;Attending in-person and virtual sessions, to provide logistical support;Responsible for I-Corps marketing and social media posting;Responsible for website maintenance/updates and web content; Develop and administer impact and experience survey results;Managing I-Corps digital marketing e-newsletter for the I-Corps community, by creating and updating program materials, as needed; andParticipate in I-Corps leadership meetings, and other institutional efforts, as needed.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience;Project management experience;Demonstrated skill in providing effective customer service;Demonstrated skill in effective interpersonal communication; andAbility to work effectively with diverse individuals.Preferred Qualifications:Advanced degree in STEM preferred;Demonstrated professional work experience preferred (typically 4+ years);Experience in technology commercialization is highly desired; andFamiliarity with startup creation is highly desired.
