Events Services Technology SupervisorThe George Mason University Student Centers seeks applications for the Event Services Technology Supervisor position. This position will work on the Fairfax campus and report to the Event Services Assistant Director, Student Centers. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Provide high-quality production services in support of events by overseeing the execution of transportation, setup, operation, and breakdown of portable technical and non-technical equipment;In conjunction with other Production Supervisor, will serve as the primary supervisor and/or technical onsite for high-profile and major events. Supervise, train, and mentor approximately 30 wage/student wage employees;Facilitate training on proper transportation, storage, setup, and operation of equipment and effective implementation of event support and customer service;Ensure functionality of and performance maintenance on Student Centers In-House A/V systems and furnishings. Ensure functionality of Student Centers In-House A/V systems through implementation and oversight of preventative maintenance efforts;Ensure functionality of and performance maintenance on Student Centers portable A/V systems and furnishings. Ensure functionality of Student Centers equipment through implementation and oversight of preventative maintenance efforts;Oversee the organization and oversight of production inventory and resources. Maintain database of equipment that tracks history of usage and repairs/maintenance;Oversee implementation of a barcoding/tracking system that records movement and storage of all equipment to ensure accurate delivery of service and proper stewardship of resources;Ensure efficient usage of storage space and resources that emphasizes organization, safety, and ingenuity.Required Qualifications:Experience working in all areas of event operations/support/technology, preferably in a Higher Educational setting;Knowledgeable in all areas of event operations and event support technology, including sound, lighting, and video (setup, configuration, and operations);Experience planning and implementing events;Ability to diagnose, repair, and/or make recommendations for repair/replacement of Student Centers' technical equipment;Ability to serve as a critical thinker and decision maker to support professional and student staff when issues arise;Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, patrons, and colleagues at all times is required;Must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/. The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver's licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.Preferred Qualifications:Experience recruiting, developing effective training programs for staff, directing and supervising staff is preferred;Experience in project management including managing of vendors for replacement projects strongly preferred.
