Overview

AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP's millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.

The Business Analysis Director on the AARP Services, Inc. Finance team, will create analyses to measure and optimize value across several aspects of our business. The first pillar is revenue optimization, with analysis of key issues for our largest partnerships, modeling new business opportunities, and operational analysis of ASI-owned businesses. The second pillar is around AARP membership and how we can contribute to improvement through product selection, targeting, and integrated communications. The final pillar is marketing communications valuation and analysis. Your work will include valuation of key marketing channels, campaigns, and specific investment initiatives. In all cases, analysis should synchronize to and support our strategy and support good decision making with financial models, market analysis, recommendations, and effective executive communications.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes the vision for enterprise data, data management, and analytics solutions across business functions.
  • Works with cross-functional leaders and their teams to align and integrate data platforms, processes, and reporting capabilities to ensure superior experience, functional excellence, and to develop operational efficiencies.
  • Performs critical analyses and syntheses of substantial and complex bodies of knowledge, including both primary and secondary marketplace, macro-environment, and consumer data, for purposes of informing and guiding decision-making. Performs explanatory data analyses, generates and tests working hypotheses, prepares and analyzes historical data, and identifies patterns. Authors reports and other written communications updating the enterprise on the most current membership and population insights.
  • Oversees the collection, storage, management, quality, governance, and protection of data and leads the production and distribution of scheduled reports.
  • Leads the research and analysis of data to develop insights for use in decision-making and setting business priorities. Consults with management and stakeholders to discuss insights, trends, and future scenarios that emerge, both proactively and independently, and in response to targeted inquiries. Collaborates with senior management to appropriately frame research questions that can be addressed by the available data. Translates and integrates findings into strategy to promote continued successful community service, growth, and profitability.
  • Serves as subject matter expert and provides technical consultation and guidance to multiple research portfolios across the organization, both within and outside of the immediate team.
  • Leads efforts to integrate and append third-party data into the organization's databases to improve the fidelity of customer data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with 8+ years of experience and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience identifying specific analyses that will support decisions on strategic initiatives and financial analysis and profitability scenario modeling.
  • Ability to transform raw data into marketing and profitability insights.
  • Experience in accessing and using data from relational database environments.
  • Concise and effective executive-level communication required.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing performance metrics and data sources.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Solid data visualization skills; Tableau desired but not required.
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
