You will work with reporting users and analysts across Mason, enabling data driven decision making. In addition, this position will participate in the configuration and administration of our BI platforms.Responsibilities:Assist the BI Administrator with support and maintenance of Mason's Business Intelligence platforms;Perform system administration activities, including system monitoring, software upgrade installation, maintenance of automated processes, performance tuning and troubleshooting;Develop complex reports, modify existing reports and provide technical support to University report writers;Assist in functional and performance testing for new and existing reports;Assist report users in meeting their reporting needs by developing new reports and ensuring that existing reports perform well and provide accurate results;Investigate report and data issues, collaborating with team members and subject matter experts to resolve them;Work closely with the BI Administrator and other ITS departments, such as system engineering and database administration, to ensure that reporting environments are performing well and available to users.Required Qualifications:BS or higher degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience;Experience developing reports and dashboards in a Business Intelligence tool, such as MicroStrategy, Power BI, Tableau or Cognos;Demonstrated working knowledge of Data Warehouse design and Star Schema methodology;Excellent communication skills for supporting both functional area users and ITS technical staff;Ability to multi-task;Demonstrated significant working knowledge of SQL queries;Experience with Oracle or other relational databases;Exemplary analytic skills to support requirements analysis and problem solving; andExperience working in a Linux or Unix environment.Preferred Qualifications:Experience developing reports in MicroStrategy and/or Power BI;Experience with performance tuning of SQL queries;Experience with Oracle databases;Understanding of MicroStrategy or Power BI architecture and operations;Experience administering a production system in an application administration or other related capacity; andExperience with George Mason University or similar high education data.Salary is commensurate with education and experience.George Mason University is a great place to work where employees are given an opportunity to develop skills and expand horizons.
