Overview The Controls Technician will perform routine electrical troubleshooting of refinery equipment and installation/restoration of electrical controls. The Control Technician must be able to work independently and will be responsible for the efficient use of materials, equipment and time in performance of the job. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Maintain, repair, and calibrate all instruments throughout the refinery such as but not limited to flow meters, burners, transmitters, recorders, and controllers. Work from blueprints, sketches, specification or verbal instruction on job assignments requiring skill and accuracy for the construction, installation, adjustment, maintenance and repair of all electrical and instrument systems and equipment. Read and demonstrate an understanding of ladder logic, P&IDs, one-line electrical drawings, process flow diagrams, and instrument service manuals. Ability to create concise and coherent inspection, repair and coverage reports. Perform such function as: installing conduit, piping and tubing, cables, wiring and electro-mechanical equipment for power, light, control, signal, instrument and distribution systems, and other similar duties as directed. Install meters, meter wiring, transformers, and makes proper connections for various load condition. Install motors, switchboards and control equipment for industrial drives, automatic operation and interlocking of processing equipment. Analyze electrical circuits, connections, operating requirements and conditions of equipment in order to properly proceed with installation, adjustment, and maintenance or repair work. Perform preventative maintenance. Job Requirements Knowledge of code requirements pertaining to electrical installations Ability to work overtime, rotating shifts and weekends on a regular basis Have a high regard and ownership for personal safety and the safety of others Controls circuit experience Proven troubleshooting skills Ability to perform tasks wearing required PPE such as protective clothing, safety glasses/goggles, steel-toed boots, etc. Ability to work as part of a team in a unionized environment Ability to work independently without direct supervision Physical Requirements Moderate to heavy physical effort Capabilities include: climbing stairs, ladders and catwalks lifting up to 50 lbs. walking standing working overhead Education and/or Experience Minimum of 3 years of industrial manufacturing experience and 1 year field experience Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities, Females, Protected Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities.
