Job Title: Senior Systems Administrator Department/Unit: DOJ Agency Location: Springfield, VA Status: Full-Time Exempt Salary: $150K - $170K Job Summary: The Senior Systems Administrator independently provides expert guidance and support to the DOJ Agency in complex investigations and operations. This is an exciting opportunity to support a specialized federal law enforcement mission. Duties and Responsibilities The Senior Network Engineer will independently provide expert guidance and support to agency leadership on the full range of technologies for use in complex criminal investigations, special operations, protection operations and countermeasure operations. Video Network Infrastructure, Collection and Storage System Install, configure and support network equipment including routers, switches, modems, VPNs, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, and other common hardware. Conduct network modeling and analysis to construct a reliable, high-performance integrated network. Determine network bandwidth needs and recommend measures to meet those requirements. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues that disrupt or degrade network operations. Maintain of all components of program computer networks, and their contiguous systems, performing disaster recovery operations, data backups, and system security. Establish and enforce network security policies per guidelines. Attend classified project meetings and various classified working groups when requested and provide a briefing of the meeting. Remain current in job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations. Applicant must be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret/SCI Clearance. Experience Experience working with and collaborating with Federal Law Enforcement, US Intelligence Community and/or comparable US military components in a highly specialized professional position. Experience in managing unclassified and classified projects. Experience in technical video operations, video collection techniques, tactics, procedures and evidence collection is preferred. Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network security, network infrastructure and hardware to include wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, and controllers. Expert level knowledge and application of the OSI model to include the transport and network infrastructure protocols. Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems and performance tuning. Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization. Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources. Knowledge & Education Must possess a complete understanding and wide experience in the application of relevant networking principles, theories, and concepts. A minimum of ten years Department of Defense or Federal Law Enforcement experience A minimum of five years of experience in the management of network operations, IT security or systems support. Network Engineer experience preferred. Experience working with and collaborating with the US Intelligence Community and/or Joint Special Operations Command. Experience in managing unclassified and classified projects. Any combination of Master?s degree, Bachelor?s degree, Associates Degree, with additional qualifying experience, and training relevant to job description. Bachelor?s degree in science or information technology related field of study with a network engineering focus, graduate degree preferred. Additional certifications preferred, include CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or CISCO Certified Internet Working Expert (CCIE) Certification Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), CompTIA Network+ Advance certification and additional years of experience in lieu of degree will be considered. Desired Qualities Ability to operate and manage complex system. A self-starter, able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment. Strong interpersonal skills with sense of responsibility. Excellent communication and strong documentation skills Dependable and flexible when necessary, including the ability to work nights and weekends.
