Overview: The Child Development Teacher will be primarily responsible for caring for children while parents engage in meaningful activities while they are in the Early Head Start Center. This position is responsible for ensuring that the child care space is conducive to quality parent/child interactions, parents feel comfortable, and quality educational experiences are provided to the children. $1,000 HIRING INCENTIVE Responsibilities: Interacts with children daily and teaches through play, age appropriate activities, and modeling. Gathers information for parents on subjects pertaining to child development and parenting. Keeps daily attendance and breakfast count for children who attend the center, including tracking snack records for the Child Development (CD) room. Assists the Educational Services Coordinator as needed with various child-care tasks. Follows all OCC licensing requirements and Head Start Performance Standards Plans and implements daily parent/child activities. Meets weekly with the Coordinator, Educational Services for planning. Consults with staff weekly to report significant details about the child/family. Develops and facilitates child development goals in accordance with family partnership agreement and GOLD observation Completes child development screenings of assigned children. Conducts weekly observations on assigned children using the Teaching Strategies GOLD on line tool. Completes quarterly Checkpoints and Parent conference for each child in GOLD Prepares bulletin boards for CD room. Conducts home visits on an as needed basis. Qualifications: EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required. AA degree or equivalent course work (at least 18 credits) in Early Childhood Education (ECE) preferred. If no college degree, Child Development Associate credential (CDA) required. Ninety hours (90) Early Childhood Education Certificate required. Forty-five (45) Infant Toddler Certificate required. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one (1) year experience working directly with children ages birth to 3 years old. Family Day care experience preferred.
