Northrop Grumman Defense Systems has an opening for a highly-motivated Principal Project Engineer/ Sr. Principal Project Engineer with electromechanical Project Engineering experience. The candidate should be a self-starter and will be responsible for working within and outside of the IPT to resolve high visibility issues. This role will be from the Motion Control Systems and Avionics group and will be located at Elkton, MD. This position provides project engineering support to Avionics development programs including development planning, scheduling assignment of tasks to individual contributors, follow up and coordination with stakeholder to ensure completion of work products. Position involves researches, design, development, and test of a variety of electromechanical components and systems, including Brushless DC Motors; Linear Actuators; FPGA based Circuit Card Assemblies; analog and digital circuitry; power electronics; and control and test equipment. Responsibilities may include: Cost, schedule, and technical performance for Motion Control System projects Work Package Manager for SOW Contract deliverable milestones and dates Supplier / subcontract management Coordinate with program to ensure appropriate processes are followed Identify and manage risks, issues, and opportunities within their area of regard Define, establish, and maintain the configuration baseline of their product Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with program managers, functional managers, and customers Accountable to the IPT and motion control functional area for daily execution This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. Basic Qualifications for Principal Project Engineer (required to be considered): A Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) with 5 or more years of engineering experience; 3 or more years of engineering experience with Masters in STEM; and 1 or more years of engineering experience with PhD in STEM Microsoft Office skills (Power Point, Word, Excel) Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. Preference given to those who have an active clearance. Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Project Engineer (required to be considered): A Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) with 9+ years of engineering experience; 7+ with Masters in STEM and 5+ with PhD in STEM Microsoft Office skills (Power Point, Word, Excel) Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. Preference given to those who have an active clearance. Salary Range: $96,900 USD - $145,300 USD Salary Range 2: $120,000 USD - $180,000 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
