Position Summary/Purpose of Position: Offers technical repair and problem diagnosis to campus Irrigation Supervisor for maintaining campus irrigations systems and fountains. Responsible for daily system checks and includes plumbing, low voltage electrical, mechanical and system control repairs. In the absence of the Irrigation supervisor will handle work task requests and overall systems oversight. Minimum Qualifications: Four years progressively responsible experience in the trade(s) where assigned to include at least one year in a lead or supervisory capacity. In a Non-Supervisory/Leader position, 5 years of experience is required. Preferences: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of irrigation systems, fountains and water conservation. Comprehensive knowledge of the practices and techniques of irrigation landscape construction, and/or irrigation practices and techniques of irrigation maintenance. Incumbent should have some knowledge of plant material and their water needs. Working knowledge of landscape irrigation design and construction work. Working knowledge in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment of the trade. Ability in making field investigations. Ability to plan and implement assigned projects, to organize and lead the work of assigned personnel and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. High school diploma or GED preferred Additional Certifications: Candidates must possess and maintain a valid Maryland Class C driver's license (or equivalent) with fewer than 6 points. The employee must have the ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and on occasion up to 100 pounds; stand and walk continuously; lift, stoop, and/or bend for extended periods of time; wear and work with the use of personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles, etc.). The shift hours are from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm Monday-Friday. Position is Essential and is subject to 24 hour day/7 day week span of operation.
