Intro: Seeking a senior Big Data Solutions Architect with consulting experience. You will use cutting-edge cloud and data technologies to help global brands and federal agencies solve challenging problems through innovative technology solutions. What You'll Be Doing: Work in a team with other smart AIS employees and use cutting edge technologies to solve challenging enterprise problems Design data platform solutions using Azure data services such as Data Factory, Azure Event Hub, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks Design scalable data processing and analytics solutions, including Big data storage for various data types and large-scale data processing using Databricks Apply your skills in Azure Cognitive Services, Azure PaaS and Machine Learning services Use experience working with Azure Data & Storage, Azure Analytics & Azure IoT tools, as well as the traditional Microsoft BI stack Provide mentorship to more junior consultants Location and Travel Details: This is a remote position with occasional travel. Profile of Success: Minimum of eight years of big data solution architect or engineering experience Hands-on working knowledge of Spark and/or Spring Deep knowledge of data ingestion strategies and understanding of the V-dimensions of data (velocity, volume, variety, veracity) Extensive experience with the Azure storage technologies (Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse (SQLDW)) Extensive experience with Azure data movement and transformation capabilities (Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory) Understanding of broader Azure data and networking platform offerings and how they apply to Data Engineering (Azure Purview, Private Link) Comfortable with modern (Azure Synapse) and traditional Microsoft SQL data technologies (SSAS/SSIS/SSRS) Experience in Data Ingestion and Big Data technologies Deep understanding of Data Warehousing, Reporting and related technologies would be an added advantage Excellent communication and stakeholder management A high degree of initiative and flexibility Ability to adapt quickly and adjust to client needs Capable of creating and delivering training as needed Ability to conduct project discovery and analyze results Identify gaps in the data pipeline operations and provide improvement strategies Partner with the Technical Project Manager to foster continuous improvement Guide the production support team by providing expert advice and issues resolution Capture the as-is, envision the to-be and manage the transition with the client and the team Assess current tools, processes and skills and provide effective and efficient solutions as needed Desirable Skills: Apache/Confluent Kafka and Hadoop. Snowflake and HVR/Fivetran experience are a plus Experience with applying software development lifecycle practices and tooling to data projects. Experience with automation and DevOps practices. Experience with dbt (data build tool) is a plus. Experience working with time-series data and a strong understanding of its impacts on ingestion, modeling, and consumption.
