The primary function of the Collections Team Leader role is to provide leadership and direction to the Collections Department. This role is also responsible for the planning, organizing and directing of collection efforts for the Credit Union to ensure all operations are in accordance with established policies, procedures and legal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises 8-10 employees within the Collections Department (onsite and remote)
  • Analyze and resolve referred accounts from the Collectors and determine the best course of action giving special attention to loss prevention
  • Handle escalated questions or complaints
  • Act as a liaison for all indirect auto loan participants to include reporting and account related requests
  • Manage all necessary management workflows within the Collections system Temenos
  • Communicate with the Loss Mitigation management team in order to collaborate for departmental success
  • Validate all accounts being placed out for repossession and charge off before final sign off by the AVP of Collections
  • Monitors all collections calls for quality and accuracy
  • Meets with direct reports on a consistent basis to review standard quality of work
  • Monitor Collector productivity reports and identify coaching and development needs as applicable
  • Writes and conducts annual performance reviews
  • Must have the ability to use discretion in your work
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • High-school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of collections experience
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience
  • Working knowledge of FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and databases
  • Must be available during the hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in managing or working in a similar size financial institution or call center environment.
