Job Summary: Amentum is looking for a Reliability Engineer to join our team in McLean, VA! As the Reliability Engineer, you will develop analysis methods to determine reliability of components, equipment and systems. Acquire and analyzes data. Prepares diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations and reports to define reliability problems and make recommendations for improvements. Conduct analysis of reliability problems and investigates to determine the required reliability approach for a particular situation, with consideration given to cost limitations for equipment uptime/downtime, repair/replacement costs, size and availability of materials/equipment. Determine cost advantages of alternatives and develops action plans that comply with internal/external customer demands for reliable processes/equipment to avoid failures. Must be a US Citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI government security clearance. Essential Responsibilities: Works with Project Engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of facility support equipment. The Reliability Engineer is responsible for adhering to the Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle of assets.Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans. Participates in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers. Develops acceptance tests and inspection criteria.Facilitates and assists others in root cause failure analysis to avoid future failures.Guides efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems.Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an Asset Maintenance Plan that includes:Value-added preventive maintenance tasksEffective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problemsProvides input to a Risk Management Plan that will anticipate reliability-related, and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operation.Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues. To fulfill this responsibility the Reliability Engineer applies techniques that can include:Statistical Process ControlReliability modeling and predictionFault Tree AnalysisWeibull Tree AnalysisSix Sigma (6?) MethodologyRoot-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA)Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)Provides technical support to maintenance management and technical personnel.Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisions.Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested. Minimum Requirements: Education:Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four year accredited college or university. Experience: Two (2) plus years of experience required. Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. Position may require travel.Must be a US Citizen.Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI government security clearance.Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Position may require travel.
