If interested, please send an updated, Word copy of your resume at Adison at arunderwood@apexsystems.com Job Title: Technical Writer (IT) Minimum Clearance Required: None Reports to: Director of Proposal Management Organization: Corporate, Business Development Place of Performance: Corporate Headquarters, corporate position (Vienna, VA 22182) # of Days in Office: 4 (1 remote day/ week) Full-Time Position Supervisory Responsibility: None required for this position REQUIREMENTS Number of years of IT technical writing experience: Minimum = 5 years Maximum = 10 years Write to IT/ Cybersecurity technical requirements of several proposals simultaneously in a high-volume environment Work with company executives and subject matter experts (SME) to translate technical and management information into clear, concise, and accurate text for proposals Research information about IT topics, work with executives and SMEs to create original content, edit in-house "reuse" material, and determine graphics/ images that support proposal narratives Summary: The ideal candidate is a thought leader who fosters a positive team environment and can quickly adjust to dynamic proposal development schedules and requirements. In addition to proven experience, our ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills. The selected candidate for this role will be responsible for writing, editing, and proofreading IT/ Cyber-centric federal proposal responses while ensuring seamless integration with the overarching proposal narrative. This position works closely with executive leadership and business development personnel. Duties are performed within a team environment and focus on the development and delivery of compelling and differentiated proposals to Federal Government customers. Duties/ Responsibilities: Write to IT/ Cybersecurity technical requirements of several proposals simultaneously in a high-volume environment Project management of writing assignments Write, review, and revise technical proposal sections based on guides and outlines provided by Proposal Managers Attention to detail is essential as the Proposal Writer is responsible for ensuring proposals and deliverables are compliant, clear and well-written, persuasive, are of high quality, and are consistent with corporate culture and mission Support responses to pre-solicitation notices, requests for information, Draft RFPs, and Final RFPs Analyze government RFPs/ PWS'/ SOWs to determine technical requirements, understand respective government agency's needs and detailed guidelines, and draft text that is compliant and compelling Work with company executives and subject matter experts (SME) to translate technical and management information into clear, concise, and accurate text for proposals Research information about IT topics, work with executives and SMEs to create original content, edit in-house "reuse" material, and determine graphics/ images that support proposal narratives Coordinate with software developers, project managers, engineers, and other SMEs to create and update in-house documentation and reuse materials Work with and engage corporate leadership and operational team members from across the Company for information, detail, and information verification as a part of the response process Lead IT-focused proposal content plan development efforts Participate in proposal planning and development meetings Conduct research and synthesize information from multiple sources (subject matter experts, newly-written content, narrative library) into a cohesive, easy-to-read, and persuasive final product Meet regularly with stakeholders as appropriate, communicate with management related to progress challenges and proposal queries Raise critical issues and recommend solutions and alternatives Follow-up on requests for information, timely, in order to ensure proposals are delivered on time Review writing by teammates as well as internal proposals for quality, coherence, and clarity Assist in determining staffing solution based on knowledge of PWS Task requirements, Deliverables, and Performance Metrics Assist in determination of graphics development Collaborate with corporate proposal stakeholders to share best practices and lessons learned The Proposal Writer may also be responsible for other Business Development documentation, including Key Personnel resumes, past performance information, and contract deliverables Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Proposals The selected candidate will support IT, Engineering, and Cybersecurity proposal efforts. IT/ Cybersecurity experience is required. Experience/ knowledge of the following is preferred, but the lack of it is not disqualifying. We are seeking a well-rounded candidate who has a firm grasp of IT and Cybersecurity concepts that can be applied to the proposal writing process. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of degree. 5-7 years of experience in a field requiring extensive technical writing, especially in a persuasive context: proposal writing, journalism, public advocacy, law, or similar fields Ability to successfully strategize and write persuasive and responsive proposals under tight deadlines Experience reflecting process management, attention to detail, immovable deadlines, and the exercise of independent judgment strongly valued Ability to work sometimes unpredictable schedules, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and over holidays High proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft SharePoint Appreciation of and flexibility to adapt to a diverse and complex team of working styles with varying knowledge, skills, and abilities Formal proposal training preferred (Shipley, APMP, etc.) Confidence and experience dealing with senior executives; ability to work effectively in fast-paced, time sensitive, and often multi-tasking environment EEO Employer Apex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
