Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.Through its open admissions policy, Cecil College provides learning opportunities for all who have the desire and ability to benefit from its courses and programs, regardless of age, gender, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, disability, or socioeconomic status.Employees of Cecil College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia.Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorships.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Associate Director of Enterprise Services, the SQL Developer is responsible for planning, streamlining, creating, modifying, testing and implementing SQL code in support of enterprise software applications and various college processes. The ideal candidate will be proficient at writing and tuning SQL, creating scripts to build new database objects (designing tables, stored procedures, views, functions, etc.), developing and troubleshooting code, and actively analyzes and works to optimize data and reconcile date sources. Given the interaction with students, employees, and the college community this position requires an in person presence. The position may be eligible for telework.SPECIFIC DUTIES The SQL Developer is responsible for creating, troubleshooting and maintaining SQL queries and stored procedures to support the College's enterprise software applications. The SQL developer must ensure that stored procedures and SQL jobs are stable and secure by employing best practices, proactive monitoring, and collaborating with stakeholders. The SQL Developer will work closely with the Student Info. System (SIS) Administrator to develop stored procedures, packages, views and triggers as well as to manage and optimize the SIS system (Jenzabar) and related projects. Responsibilities also include managing vendor relationships and support requests. Additionally, this individual will help facilitate enterprise reporting - enabling the college to meet on-going, ad-hoc, and regulatory reporting requirements and to make data-driven decisions. The SQL Developer will also need to keep technical skills current through training and conference opportunities, and performs other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS . Education: Bachelor's degree required. . Experience: 2-4 years of experience with advanced SQL querying and script writing. Preference given to candidates with 4+ years of experience and/or MS-SQL server experience. . Skills/Training: Required experience in advanced SQL writing/querying & Associated Tools, Microsoft Windows Client/Server Operating Systems, and Enterprise Reporting. Experience with Student Information System, Enterprise Resource Planning System, InfoMaker, and/or PowerBI is preferred. . Proficiencies: Demonstrated abilities to coordinate multiple schedules, assess priorities, and meet deadlines. Must exhibit excellent communication and writing/composition skills, strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and proficiency in problem-solving . Scheduling Requirements: Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 4:30. Given the need of interaction with students, employees and college community this position requires in person presence. However, the position may be eligible for Cecil College's telework policy. During critical periods schedule can vary sometimes requiring evening, Saturday, and Sunday work hour's dependent on the needs of department. . Physical Demands: Most of the position is sedentary.
