Description: Summary: Our ideal Estimator is responsible for developing conceptual, detailed estimates during the preconstruction process. With a minimum 5 years' experience as an estimator in commercial construction, the Estimator will be able to read and understand project plans and understand construction methods for both base building and tenant interiors projects. The Estimator will be responsible for site and building take offs, manages and controls the bidding process, and provides support for the business development process. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develops conceptual estimates, detailed estimates, and future project estimate budgets with minimal information. Corresponds professionally with development, design, and engineering for a clear understanding of the project scope. Anticipates the location of project utilities based on information obtained from site visits. Coordinates with other departments within the company to gain input on estimates. Accurately take-off quantities of architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, and landscape drawings for both base building and tenant interior projects. Reviews drawings and specifications. Attends project site visits and pre-bid meetings. Answers questions from bidding subcontractors and discusses construction standards. Ensures each bid is delivered on time with all RFP requirements identified. Ability to work on concurrent project estimates and meets estimating deadlines. Assembles bid packages and coordinates the bid activities. Sends out new bid opportunities through online drawing/bid site for subcontractor coverage. Develops estimating trends and monitors escalation of cost and geographic factors that will affect the cost of our projects. Identifies, recruits, screens, and qualifies potential subcontractors and vendors. Leads the development and maintenance of an organized documentation of cost history establishing cost breakdowns to support preliminary cost estimating. Supervisory Responsibilities None Requirements: Qualifications Ability to read and interpret Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Landscape drawings. Ability to read and interpret Geotechnical, Environmental, and other associated consultant reports necessary to projects. Skilled at handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with a reputation for being accurate, responsive, and well organized. Strong self-starter with excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills within cross functional teams. Ability to set and meet deadlines. Strong accounting skills. Strong decision making and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and client service skills. Education and/or Experience BS degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or other related discipline strongly preferred. Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial general contracting estimation. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual must be computer savvy including knowledge of Microsoft Office products, online plans, Procore, spreadsheet software and project management software.
