This professional work includes assessing training needs and identifying, designing, and delivering training that meets the needs of the Senate staff. Supervision of others is not required; however, an employee may assign and inspect work, and provide training to less experienced colleagues. Work may include travel within the United States. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the management team of the Senate Joint Office of Training & Development.

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK

●  Conducts needs assessments to identify organizational training needs, requirements, and priorities; consults with Senate managers and supervisors on organizational/departmental issues and development needs; designs performance improvement strategies to address identified needs

●  Designs and evaluates classroom and online training

●  Delivers live and online training to staff in DC and state offices

●  Provides meeting/retreat planning and facilitation in DC and state offices

●  Serves as project lead in training and development projects; manages internal and vendor staff on training projects

●  Trains and/or coaches internal and partner training staff in design and presentation skills

●  Designs and develops specific training materials and guides to support training

●  Works on a team that coordinates training conferences

●  Reviews evaluations and incorporates feedback to make necessary changes to training and other programs

●  Monitors current training and development trends; makes appropriate recommendations for adaptation and inclusion in Senate training programs

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Work requires occasional walking, standing for long periods, bending, and safely carrying items up to 25 pounds. Must be able to travel 10-15% of the time.

Work requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or a related field, and five to eight years of experience in platform and online training and development, and instructional design; or any equivalent combination of demonstrated experience that provides the following:

●  Knowledge and application of Adult Learning Theory

●  Experience designing and delivering interactive and experiential learning

●  Ability to design instruction for classroom and online learning

●  Demonstrated history of integrating instructional design methodologies into training deliverablesAbility to perform live and online training; knowledge of Adobe Connect, WebEx, and Zoom

●  Expert presentation/platform skills

●  Demonstrated history of constructing and facilitating conversations for multiple audiences Knowledge of Organizational Development principles

●  Ability to collaborate with an internal team of instructional designer professionals and with external organizational partners

●  Ability to communicate effectively
