Information Technology Services is responsible for AARP enterprise-wide technology and information security functions. Services range from infrastructure design and operations, system and software lifecycle implementations, enabling the mobile workforce and protecting AARP network, systems and data. A variety of technologies and practices are used including cloud computing, automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning within highly collaborative Agile teams.

The Security Operations Leader is the servant leader, or Platform Manager, of the 'CyberOps' platform team, responsible for the platform's vision, strategy, outcomes, metrics, and alignment with business needs and AARP's technology standards. This position is accountable for creating and socializing the platform strategy and associated outcomes within the enterprise and will be expected to deliver incremental business value in an agile environment. The Security Operations Leader must be a multi-faceted technologist able to create a meaningful platform vision, orchestrate a variety of stakeholders to define shared priorities, manage a full platform lifecycle that balances short-term achievements with long-term goals, and build a sense of ownership within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Drives the platform strategy and development of new features and experiences.
  • Owns the platform lifecycle from ideation, strategic planning, tactical initiatives, platform roadmap, platform development, and ongoing implementation and support. Ensures growth on established metrics.
  • Leads, manages, and mentors the platform team to design, deliver, measure, and improve business outcomes using an agile approach.
  • Facilitates input from internal stakeholders and other platform and capability teams and negotiates timing, minimum viable product, and tradeoffs amongst them.
  • Prioritizes the team's backlog.
  • Cultivates deep understanding of consumers/members/employees through human centered design including assessing needs, identifying pain points/barriers, ideating value proposition and solutions, and assisting in estimating demand.
  • Conducts data driven analysis and analyzes performance to drive platform decisions that deliver business value.
  • Develops technical knowledge and expertise related to domain area systems, solutions, services and applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of IT operations and management experience in information security; ideally, one year of product management experience and experience managing teams using an agile methodology, such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • 5+ years of threat detection and incident response leadership and experience implementing related technologies (e.g., Security Information & Event Management systems, network and host-based detection controls, security orchestration solutions, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor others on architecture and design skills and concepts related to cloud, application and network security.
  • Experience managing and growing engineering and delivery talent on the team and effectively managing individual and team performance.
  • Experience conducting market research and analysis on platform capabilities and industry trends.
  • Experience identifying and prioritizing cybersecurity risk mitigation strategies.
  • Deep knowledge of data access and privileged access management solutions, security operations center and incident response practices, and cybersecurity controls.
  • In office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
