Do you have a 3rd Class DC Steam Engineers License? ENGIE is hiring 3 Operating Engineers in Washington, DC located at Georgetown University. The candidates will be responsible for the safe, legal, reliable, and cost-efficient operation and maintenance of law campus utility production and distribution systems of heating/hot water, steam, chilled water, condensate, and domestic water. Additionally, assists with the maintenance and operation of building management and life safety systems. What you'll do: Maintain a safe, comfortable campus environment by operating, controlling and performing preventive/predictive maintenance on the HVACR, Electrical, Mechanical, and Life Safety building systems 24/7 Respond to emergency situations such as flood, smoke, fire, inclement weather, etc. Develop and maintain proficiency in the operation of automated building management systems, controls, pumps, heat exchangers, water treatment, cooling towers, boilers, fire alarm, sprinkler, emergency generator, elevator, and various other mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems and equipment associated with the operation of large buildings Assist with over all regulatory and code compliance of all building systems as required by law and local jurisdictions Test and maintains water chemistry for HVAC, steam, and hot water systems Responsible for troubleshooting and diagnosing faults to replace and repair non-operational parts Schedule preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates at optimum performance Review operational manuals, technical manuals, and system procedures. Perform facilities management activities as outlined in FM agreement Read and understand mechanical and electrical prints , process and Identification drawings Qualifications What you bring: High School Diploma or equivalent with 4+ years background in trade practices of steam engineering. Must operate intuitively from previous background knowledge in troubleshooting the gauges and instruments on panels to bring about satisfactory operation. 3rd Class DC Steam Engineers License Experience with building automation controls For this position, you must have evidence of right to work in the US There is no employer sponsorship of US residency or work authorization with this role Designated as an emergency employee and must report to work regardless of the university's operating status Incumbent must be capable of supporting snow removal operations Additional Information/Conditions: Ability to adhere to the highest safety standards Ability to follow directions when assisting other trades Must be a champion the six guiding principles of the ENGIE team @Georgetown University as they are impacted by your position: Why is this good for the University? Must be able to use all common hand tools, drill press, electric drills, hand, and bench grinders Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy Ability to use a personal computer, calculator, etc. Ability to lift light to medium weight objects. Could involve some lifting <50lbs Ability to performed work from ladders or scaffolds, on top of boilers, next to hot steam driven equipment, and near rotating equipment Ability to push and pull objects Ability to perform work in an abnormal sitting or standing position Ability to perform work inside confined spaces, manholes and crawl spaces Must have valid driver's license Willingness to develop technical proficiency in some software applications (Maximo, SAP, ADP etc.) Why ENGIE?
