Development Operations Assistant, Hylton Center The George Mason University's Hylton Performing Arts Center seeks a qualified Development Operations Assistant to support development and alumni engagement efforts at the Center. Reporting to the Interim Director of Development, the Development Operations Assistant will work with the Development team, colleagues in the Hylton Center, across the College of Visual and Performing Arts and George Mason University, as well as external contractors, donors, artists, and patrons. The Development Department hosts an array of donor events, including a two-day black-tie Gala, stewardship dinners and receptions, and donor cultivation events, as well as supports donor engagement at season performances and other operations throughout the year.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position:The Development Operations Assistant will provide in depth support for the full season of development efforts, with a focus on in-person events. Specifically, the position will provide support in the form of advancement communications for signature events, support for the Gala Committee, and assists consultant event planners with tasks as needed. In addition, the Development Operations Assistant will lead and execute the planning of more intimate donor events, including the Season Announcement, events in donor homes, small receptions, etc. The expectation is for 8-10 events per year. The Development Operations Assistant will also provide administrative support to the Development Department as needed, supporting solicitation and stewardship efforts in coordination with Central Advancement. Additionally, the Development Operations Assistant will be a member of the Development team, and will be expected to provide season performance assistance at donor hospitality appx. 2-4 times per month. Responsibilities:Support advancement communications efforts in coordination with CVPA Marketing for development events, including save the dates, invitations, brochures, print and digital materials, web and social media presence, and press;Support Gala Committee and other volunteer-led efforts related to events, to include producing agendas, leading and participating in meetings, and providing post-meeting follow up and liaison between volunteers and staff;Provide support for event planning contractors as needed;On-site presence at Development department signature events;Lead and execute planning for occasional development department events, to include private receptions, Season Announcement, and other events;Provide administrative support for department and University-wide solicitation and engagement efforts;On-site presence at regular Hylton-produced performances, providing donor hospitality;Produce event reports using industry-standard events management platforms (i.e. Salesforce, MicroStrategy, and iModules /Anthology systems, Constant Contact, or similar); andOther duties as assigned as they pertain to Hylton Center Development and Departmental Events.Required Qualifications:Experience in managing events (generally 1+ year(s));Demonstrated, effective administrative, organizational, and project management skills;Demonstrated skill in effective written, visual and verbal communication skills to help promote events among diverse constituencies;Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and cloud storage services to facilitate sharing on files and documents;Ability to work creatively, independently, and be a team player; andAbility to work flexible hours aligning with events, along with some travel.Preferred Qualifications:Project management experience with advanced time management and prioritization skills;Demonstrated experience with virtual event platforms and managing virtual events;Demonstrated experience in CRM and email databases which provide tools to create event websites, pull registration lists, and send event-related emails (invites, reminders, and post-event follow-up surveys);Collaborative skills to facilitate teamwork and achieve common goals for each event; andAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and adept at problem-solving.Telework Friendly? Hybrid (some on-site expectation for events and event set up or as otherwise required).Schedule: M-F, with frequent evenings and weekends as events required. Flexible schedule with some working hours consistent between 9:00am - 3:00pm. Anticipated average 20 hours per week.Technology: Department will provide laptop for in office/home (work-related) use.
