The Boeing Company is seeking a Sr. Manager, Avionics & Control Systems who will support its Vehicle Management System (VMS) Director leading the VMS organization in its role as part of our Urban Air Mobility Platform. This position will be responsible for managing the execution of Vehicle Management System Computing-Platform (VMSC) and Mission Management System Computing-Platform (MMSC). Additionally, this position's responsibility includes responsibility for full lifecycle of engineering development from concepts of operations through requirements, design, build, integration, test, certification, and deployment of the avionics products. This role requires strong system engineering, analytical, problem-solving, and program management skills in a fast-paced team environment. Find your future with us. This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and does not require applicants to live in any of the listed locations. 50% of travel is required for this role Position Responsibilities: Develop and integrate high level product strategies, roadmaps and action plans Develop technical strategies, goals, objectives and related metrics to ensure alignment to Company vision and strategy and resolve issues for future products Create communication material and content for organizational reviews and executive engagements Manage, develop and motivate employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of software/hardware/systems integration Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes, as well as cost and schedule performance Provide on-going feedback to organizational leaders and champions organizational initiatives Support Director in the management of product lines in accordance with Boeing Values and Program Management Best Practices Work seamlessly across all Boeing Business Units and Functions Implement efficiencies to meet product line cost targets while driving first time quality The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 CFR | 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience): Bachelor's degree in a technical, engineering, or STEM field, or Business/Finance related field w/ 10+ years' experience in Aerospace 10+ years of experience leading multi-functional teams and/or projects Demonstrated creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills Experience articulating and implementing strategy-to-action plans Experience with avionics systems new product development or production Experience with Earned Value Management Able to travel 50% of the time Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience): Understanding of Avionics Hardware & Software development, design, production and project management Knowledge of FAA and other airworthiness regulatory requirements Experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Experience working and executing projects in cross-functional and cross-business unit environments Experience with unscrewed/autonomous systems Experience with Model Based Design & Systems Engineering Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Experience with Model Based Engineering and Engineering Lifecycles Leadership experience with development and/or production programs Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects/programs of various size and complexity Exceptional interpersonal skill and self-sufficient ability to lead teams, including coaching and mentoring Demonstrated ability act strategically and tactically to support successful project completion Strong written and oral communication skills Strong Continuous Improvement skills and customer focus Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills Demonstrated creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding targets goals and strong skills in program execution to schedule and budget Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.
