Description The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George's County has immediate openings for Event, Parking and Facility Operations Staff at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex located in Landover. Event and Parking Staff - $15.00/hr-$16.00/hr dependent upon experienceFacility Operations Staff - $15.00/hr-$16.00/hr dependent upon experience Complete an online application via this job posting on-line at:Examples of Important Duties Event and Parking Staff- ($15.00/hr - $16.00/hour)Example of Important Job DutiesEnforces all rules and regulations as they relate to program and event rental safety. Completes daily duties, including safety checks and oversight of event/program areas.Other DutiesDirects and monitor general public upon arrival along with providing general information pertaining to the complex and scheduled programs/events as needed.Availability to work scheduled shifts including but not limited to nights and weekends.Attends meetings, and all other required trainings.(Parking Staff Only) Secure parking areas to include locking gates and setting up barricades.Performs other related work duties and/or special projects as assigned.Knowledge, Abilities and SkillsMust have strong interpersonal skills and work well with the public and other staff.* Communicates instructions in a professional and enthusiastic manner.Ability to establish a positive rapport by using tact and discretion with participants, and attendees.Must display a high degree of emotional maturity while keeping difficult situations in proper perspective.Deal effectively with the public.Must be able to process information quickly and accurately.Facility Operations Staff - ($15.00/hr - $16.00/hour) Example of Important Job DutiesCompletes daily duties, including safety checks and oversight of facility and event/program areas.Other DutiesAssist and monitor the physical, environmental, and security conditions and general maintenance of the building, property, facility outdoor grounds and indoor facilitiesSetups/breakdowns for classes, meetings, and events.Availability to work scheduled shifts including but not limited to nights and weekends.Maintenance and preventive measures of interior and exterior of buildingEnsure trash/debris is picked up and disposed of; walkway, path, entry, and parking lot lighting is operationalMonitor and secure interior/exterior doors and meeting spacePerforms other related work duties and/or special projects as assigned to include snow removal.Knowledge, Abilities and SkillsMust have strong interpersonal skills and work well with the public and other staff.Problem solving and good organizational skills.Ability to establish a positive rapport by using tact and discretion with participants, and attendees.Must display a high degree of emotional maturity while keeping difficult situations in proper perspective.Deal effectively with the public.Must be able to process information quickly and accurately.The ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work schedule will be determined by event rental, facility scheduling and program offering needs. Qualified candidates will work with a diverse type of rental event clientele including seniors, youth, teens, and adult populations. Participating in various events/programs such as; athletics, job fairs, expos, and community based programs. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, have High School diploma or GED, some college or trade, education/technical training, and or related experience within one of the outlined technical disciplines plete an online application via this job posting.. Attend an in-person hiring open house on Tuesday, April 12th between 12pm - 4pm or Saturday, April 16th from 10:00am - 2:00pm at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex. Candidates will interview with Events, and Facility Operations Management team members. Employment is based on successful Completion of the required interview and hiring process, Must commit to working for the Department of Parks and Recreation for a 1 year timeframe. Supplemental Information These positions are seasonal/part-time and do not include a benefit package. These positions pay at a rate of $15.00/hr- $16.00/hr dependent upon experience.Must complete and clear a criminal background investigation prior to hire.Person(s) hired for this position must provide proof of being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (with limited religious or medical exceptions).
