Description The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is currently seeking a Recreation/Enterprise Facility Manager IIIto oversee the daily operations of the Wheaton Ice Arena, Wheaton Sports Pavilion - a covered artificial turf field lined for field sports such as soccer and lacrosse, and the Wheaton Miniature Train & Carousel. This position will be responsible for program administration, staff supervision (recruiting, hiring, training, and scheduling), facility and equipment maintenance, administration, facility budgets, purchasing and inventory control, customer service, and marketing. Examples of Important Duties Manages overall day to day facility operations. Helps develop and implement long term goals and operational procedures (eg hours, rules, safety, etc.) at the Wheaton Ice Arena, Wheaton Sports Pavilion, and the Wheaton Miniature Train & Carousel (open seasonally). Oversee the year round programming and special events of the Wheaton Ice Arena, Wheaton Sports Pavilion, and the Wheaton Miniature Train and Carousel. Conducts research to identify trends or seek information that would be useful to develop programs. Develops marketing strategies for programs with marketing staff. Supervises designated staff. Recruits, selects, trains, schedules, and evaluates seasonal staff to assist with operations. Conducts performance appraisals. Ensures all staff receive various trainings (CPR/First Aid; customer service, etc.) Manages and coordinates facilities' operating budgets which include revenue-producing facilities and programs. Works with managers on project planning and facility improvements. Prepares financial reports and assists with recommendation of fees. Responsible for regularly monitoring revenues and expenditures within approved budget and reporting them to Enterprise management. Manages facility records and reports in accordance with Commission policies and procedures*. Prepares and maintains a variety of administrative records of the facilities such as; revenue and expenses, inventory of supplies and equipment, time cards, rentals, facility maintenance and attendance. Attends professional seminars to identify new programs, methods and equipment which might be useful for the facilities.Assists with marketing facilities. Works with marketing staff to promote facilities and amenities through various media outlets including social media (Facebook, websites); assist with preparation of marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, and giveaways. Updates facilities' websites. Coordinates the maintenance and repairs of the facilities and grounds, and ensures they are promptly addressed with minimal disruption to facility programs or schedules. Manages customer service activities of the facilities. Sets a positive example for employees ensuring customers are treated in a prompt, professional, respectful manner. Minimum Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree or four years experience in one of the following fields: parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or in area of required specialty; and2. Four years of progressively responsible professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services or area of required specialty, including two years as a facility manager, program coordinator or supervisor; or3. An equivalent combination of education and experience; and,4. A valid operating license (eg, county pool operator's license and child care license), where appropriate.5. A valid driver's license may be required.
