Description:Job Title: Associate Manager, Software EngineeringJob Code: IMS20222405-82887Job Location: Herndon, VAJob Description: Reporting to the Director, Software Engineering, with oversight from Manager, Software Engineering, the Associate Software Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a small team of highly skilled software developers to meet overall business objectives within an Agile environment. This is an excellent entry level management opportunity for an experienced software engineer who thrives in a high energy environment and is capable of leading a team while also participating as a hands-on contributor in all phases of the software development life cycle.Essential Functions: Leading the software design and development processes including requirements analysis, specifications, design, implementation and development.Driving efficient processes, creating best practices for software development as well as performing code and design reviews. Collaborating with other software managers as well as Electrical and Systems Engineering to ensure effective product development through optimizing engineering assignments across the development organization.Identifying and establishing development processes and standards to enhance productivity and performance of the team.Providing mentorship, coaching and guidance to team members with respect to career development and opportunities for growth.Contributing to development on projects as required.Conducting performance evaluations of engineersManaging the recruitment interview and hiring process for additional software engineers.Participate in Engineering Proposal cost estimation and Basis of Estimate effortsManage matrix organization manpower allocationQualifications: A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering (A Master's degree is desired but not required.) At least 6 years of technical experience (4 years with Master's degree) in software development with at least 2 years experience serving as a team lead (or commensurate function) to a software development team. Experience with recruiting and hiring technical talentExperience developing technical and cost volume inputs for proposals.Experience leading proposal development and Basis of Estimate generationPreferred Additional Skills: 1-2 years of experience working within an Agile development environment is highly desirable.Development experience in any of the following areas would be considered highly beneficial:Experience with SecDevOps process, tools, and procedures is highly desirableReal Time Software DevelopmentEngineering Control Systems (ECS) or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisisation (SCADA)Ship Navigation, Propulsion, Electrical, Auxiliaries and Damage Control SystemsThe ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the SECRET level is also desirable
