Duties

  • Manages the ESD product development line.
  • Provides technical instruction and integrates Branch?s efforts to produce unified products.
  • Oversees COTS testing activities and presents recommendations to the Armed Forces Pest Management Board.
  • Supervises and manages the workload and day-to-day operations of the Program Development and Education Branch.
  • Lectures at DA and DoD level professional conferences and workshops.
  • Stored-product pest management technical expert, advisor, and consultant to the Army, Defense Logistics Agency, and the DoD.
  • Solves difficult and unique problems utilizing state-of-the-art knowledge of arthropod and rodent taxonomy.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Temporary Duty Travel or business travel for 5% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree in entomology; or a related discipline of the biological or physical sciences that included at least 16 semester hours in entomology. This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. NOTE: Please provide official/unofficial transcript. Failure to attach transcript will result in an ineligible rating.

OR

Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major that included course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) preparing educational and/or technical products that communicate integrated pest management principles, 2) evaluating existing entomology programs, AND 3) developing recommendations to correct deficiencies and/or strengthen public health programs.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
