A successful company is seeking a Controller through Robert Half to take responsibility for its accounting and clerical department. The Controller position is a permanent opportunity in the Columbia, Maryland region. If you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff, you might be right for this position. In this position, you will receive exceptional compensation and benefits and potential for career growth.Major responsibilities- Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation- Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation- Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities- Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis- Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management- Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month- Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies- Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection- Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts- Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations- Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll Requirements - Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred- Government Contracting Experience required- Excellent oral and written communications skills- CPA/MBA preferred- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment- Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds- Unanet and/or Costpoint Experience- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related fieldRobert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
