Intermediate Network Engineer Location: Fort Detrick, MD Security Clearance: Active SECRET DoD Security Clearance is required Employment Class: Full Time Regular FLSA Classification: Exempt - Salaried Position Summary: 1Prospect Technologies, LLC is seeking a qualified Intermediate Network Engineer. The Fort Detrick Network Engineering team provides LAN/WAN/I-CAN support, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting for, or on behalf of the US Army 21st Signal Brigade, Network Enterprise Center (NEC) at Fort Detrick, MD. All work is coordinated and evaluated on a regular basis for accuracy and adherence of meeting the customer's requirements by the Government POC in the Network Infrastructure Division of the Network Enterprise Center. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Install, configure, troubleshoot, harden, and support enterprise network devices. Implement, troubleshoot, and support Joint Base Customer Edge (JB-CE) Router, Area Core Switch (ACS), Area Distribution Switches (ADS), Edge Access Switches (EAS), Wireless Access Points (WAPs) equipment and Voice over IP (VoIP) solution Manage Infoblox DDI (DHCP, DNS & IPAM). Manage Aruba Airwave Wireless Local Area Network (LAN) Controller (WLC). Manage Layer 2 Network Access Control 802.1x system (Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager). Manage Cisco IOS and Cisco NX-OS installations, upgrades and IAVA compliance. Monitor and manage local network performance using Cisco Prime, Cisco Security Manager, IBM Netcool, Wireshark, and other tools available in the Joint Management Network (JMN) environment. Respond to customer trouble tickets in the Army Enterprise Service Desk (AESD) Remedy system. Document customer Layer 3 issues in both the AESD and JMN Remedy systems. Perform quarterly Security Technology Implementation Guide (STIG) reviews for Infrastructure Layer 2 switches, Infrastructure Layer 3 switches (until all legacy switches are removed from network), Network infrastructure policy, Network Wireless Local Area Network Controller and Access Points, and Voice and Video over Internet Protocol checklists. Install, troubleshoot, move, and remove JB-CE, ACS, ADS, EAS, WLC, WAPs and VoIP equipment as required. Provide local troubleshooting and remediation for Layer 1 (physical) and Layer 2 (data link and network access control). Provide local troubleshooting for Layer 3 (routing) issues, Layer 3/Layer 4 Firewall issues and Access Control Lists (ACLs) as required by RCC-C prior to submitting troubles on behalf of customer to RCC-C for further troubleshooting. Support network environment for VMWare vSphere deployments. Perform troubleshooting of network problems utilizing network analyzers and/or sniffers and other troubleshooting tools. Actively participate in Change and Configuration Management (CCM) activities and prepare Request for Change (RFC) documentation for all upcoming Change requests in the test and production environments. Configure and implement network monitoring and management systems. Implement and monitor network security. Maintain network documentation and diagrams including Microsoft Visio or similar diagramming tool including accreditation documentation requirements. Other duties as assigned Education & Experience Requirements: EDUCATION: High School graduate Associates degree or higher preferred EXPERIENCE: Five (5)+ years of Network Engineering or Administration experience Experience with TCP/IP, RIP, OSPF, BGP and/or EIGRP Experience with BMC Remedy 8.2 or similar help desk tracking tools Experience with Microsoft Office products including Access, Excel, Word, Visio, and OneNote CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Current Cisco Certified Network Associate certification or higher is required. Current CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent/higher) required. This is an IAT Level 2 position, as defined in DOD 8570.01-M CLEARANCE: Active SECRET DoD Security Clearance is required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to diagnose and resolve problems in response to customer reported incidents Must be able to identify, research, evaluate, and provide feedback to management on problematic trends and patterns in customer support Ability to assist in the development and management of customer service performance requirements Must assist in the development of procedures, and standards Ability to troubleshoot complex problems in coordination with other IT teams and service providers Will be required to regularly upgrade technical skills Advanced skills with Cisco devices, Cisco VOIP, Call Manager, and IP LAN administration Advanced knowledge of LAN protocols (HSRP, Spanning Tree Protocol and VLAN trunking) Knowledge of authentication, authorization and accounting technologies (RADIUS and TACACS preferred) Knowledge of Network Management tools (Cisco Prime, Cisco Security Manager, IBM Netcool, Wireshark, and others) Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision Proven customer service skills Knowledge of Army IT regulations and security procedures. Knowledge of Army IT regulations and security procedures preferred Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands: Some walking and standing required. You may have to lift and carry equipment (ie books, tools) weighing approximately 15-25 pounds.
