Engineering Technician This position is responsible for performing technician-level R&D engineering activities in support of the development of new instrumentation platforms for MSD's technology. Engineering Technician Responsibilities Perform test, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of precision electronic and electro-mechanical devices with minimal input from senior technicians or engineers Troubleshoot and repair printed circuit boards including performing soldering work with minimal input from senior technicians or engineers Perform light assembly and fabrication work to construct test fixtures and prototype systems Source electronic and electro-mechanical components based on required performance specifications Support product verification work including assisting with or directly performing environmental, reliability, and system performance testing Assist in the development of product assembly, test, calibration, and repair procedures Maintain tool and equipment inventories for R&D work Maintain component inventory for prototype systems Understand and follow laboratory safety precautions and ensure compliance with company safety policies Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirementS Engineering Technician Qualifications Associates' degree in mechanical or electrical engineering Five or more years of experience Experience with diagnostic instrumentation and medical devices preferred Engineering Technician Preferred Strong mechanical/electrical fundamentals and analytical background Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and basic electronic schematics, and test and troubleshoot PCBs to the component level. Ability to operate test and assembly tools and equipment, including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, soldering and de-soldering tools, inspection equipment, and various machine-shop, hand, and power tools. General computer skills, including Windows, MS Office, email, internet, software installation, and basic computer setup. Working knowledge of Excel for basic manipulation and analysis of test data. Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact schedules, accuracy and reliability of data, and product quality A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task and work productively in a demanding production environment with changing priorities Ability to move/lift up to 40 pounds TriMech Services is an engineering resource provider specializing in the placement of qualified technical candidates for both temporary and direct hire opportunities.
