Manager, Strategic Investment Group
The Strategic Investments Group (SIG) is a diverse, performance-driven and highly collaborative team whose mission is to connect different business lines in the Commercial Bank with institutional capital to create partnerships that expand our capabilities and make Capital One more relevant to customers. SIG creates innovative new products and structures that are unique and often on the leading edge of the Commercial Banking industry. Since 2016, the SIG team has created numerous partnerships and risk transfer programs (ULTra, Titan, FOLO, credit insurance, equity) that have supported over $7.0B in Capital One assets, while also supporting select Commercial Initiatives such as strategic asset sales and equity investments.
Summary :
This role supports transactions with institutional investors as SIG sources outside capital to create new programs for the Commercial Bank. This role supports the creation of the internal business case and structuring of the transaction before going to market to partner with institutional investors. Once the institutional investor is identified, this role works with all internal and external stakeholders in the final design, implementation and approval of a new program. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced banking professional to bring their unique set of skills and relationships to a dynamic and growing team.

Responsibilities :
Investor Relations
- Participate in discussions with LOB leaders, heads of underwriting and credit officers to identify product needs and potential investors
- Prepare presentation and diligence materials for potential external investors to source capital
- Help conduct diligence of external investors
- Track investor trends and market developments
Program Structuring
- Leverage existing experience and network to drive select development workstreams and liaise with relevant technical experts with oversight and coordination from senior SIG Developers
- Assist in the structuring of the end-to-end program across all disciplines such as tax, legal, regulatory, credit, accounting, operations, and capital allocation
- Lead the data gathering and resolution of investor due-diligence requests
- Prepare high-visibility presentations and models relating to new programs with guidance from senior SIG Developers
- Support the structuring and negotiation of legal agreements with institutional investors with senior SIG Developers and SIG Legal Team
- Build the launch and operation plan for new programs and drive operational aspects of legal documentation
Project Management & Implementation
- Develop and own comprehensive project plans for end-to-end program build
- Support rollout of new strategic programs with deal team training, prospect prequalification requirements, sponsor/customer marketing materials, and operational procedure design
- Support the execution and operational management of the initial transactions for new programs before handing off ongoing execution/management to SIG Program Management team for full operation
Basic Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
Preferred Qualifications :
- Strong understanding of the commercial debt markets across multiple asset classes
- Experience underwriting commercial corporate or real estate loans, or experience in management consulting
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to keep multiple projects and client engagements active at once
- Proficient in creating compelling presentations
- Adept in navigating across a large organization, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, maintaining transaction-level momentum, and holding team members accountable
- Comfortable with ambiguity and ability to readily adapt to changing workstreams
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence decision makers
- Able to distill and communicate complex information clearly and concisely for both senior and junior audiences
