IT Specialists (INFOSEC) are a mission critical occupation for HRSA. These positions are responsible for the analysis of system and/or security requirements, the development and implementation of mission critical applications for the agency's Information Technology operations.

As an IT InfoSec Specialist, you serve as the Tableau Database Administrator responsible for identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities of Tableau and related data analytics/reporting platform in accordance with HRSA's timelines and security policies and governance.

Your major duties and responsibilities include:
  • Working with the Security Operations Center Group to create and update all the necessary documents required for obtaining and maintaining the Authority to Operate for all Tableau applications maintained by DESAM.
  • Coordinating and reviewing detection of anomalies, possible intrusions, infections, and unauthorized access to the supported applications. Overseeing the scheduling of Tableau database projects, database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication between multiple Structured Query Language Servers and remote sites, including security evaluations, audits and reviews.
  • Providing Tableau application support and management of services necessary to provide system development, operations, and maintenance.
  • Analyzing business strategies, business requirements, security requirements, and operational processes, including assessing security events to determine the business impact of implementing corrective action.
  • Managing all projects related to the Tableau applications and DataMart technology stack/platforms supported by DESAM.

To qualify for this position, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have IT-related information security experience in each of the four competencies listed below:

  • In addition to the above OPM requirements, in order to qualify for this position at the GS-13 level, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year of minimum qualifying specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the federal service.

    MINIMUM QUALIFYING SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, an applicant's one full year of specialized experience must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for successful job performance.

    Examples of minimum qualifying specialized experience equal to the GS-12 level include performing the following types of tasks on a regular and recurring basis:
    • Integrating security into all phases of agile Tableau report development, testing, operations and maintenance of servers and related databases;
    AND
    • Implementing, operating, and maintaining custom Tableau reports using Tableau Platform and related business intelligence technologies.
    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
