Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for a Sr Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within the Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) Department. The MS&A department supports programs that are leaders in digital transformation and provides matrix support to programs across the air, space, land, sea, and cyberspace domains. Qualified candidates will have opportunities to accelerate the delivery of sensor capability to our customers through the use of advanced MBSE and agile systems engineering methods. The role is multidisciplinary in nature and provides tremendous technical growth opportunities. Your responsibilities may include any or all of the following: - Develop solutions for the real-time, distributed C2 / Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) systems - System concept development - Elicitation and specification of functional requirements, and decomposition and traceability of those requirements - Performance analysis and specification - Architecture Trade Studies - Synthesize and extend architectures - Allocate functionality to components - Definition of interfaces, with occasional data modeling - Detailed Design Analysis; May also involve test design - Use modern model-based systems engineering approaches that make extensive use of Universal Modeling Language (UML) and Systems Modeling Language (SysML) skills; integrate M&S analysis models with descriptive models - Determine task schedules and levels of effort needed to meet program goals - Mentor and direct junior staff efforts to meet program deadlines - Communicate technical capabilities and analyses with internal stakeholders and external customers Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with 13 Years of experience with Bachelors in Science; 9 Years with Masters. Eg Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related degree. - Able to perform the general frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques. - Ability to solve problems and recommend solutions to technical problems as they are assigned. - General understanding of Systems and Software Requirements elicitation and generation. - General understanding of Architecture, Interface Definition, and Design. - Knowledge of MBSE / Model Driven Architecture (MDA) - Should also be able to collaborate on the creation, development, and presentation of technical briefings. - Good written and oral communications skills including attention to detail. - Ability to design or integrate software components. - US Citizen with an active Secret clearance Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of Command and Control domain, and system architectures in Real-Time systems - Knowledge of signal processing, target acquisition, target tracking, resource management, discrimination, and battle management interfaces - Frequent use of Systems Modeling Language (SysML) - Knowledge of MBSE and relative methodologies, eg OOSEM - Experience with descriptive modeling tools, eg Cameo, eg Rhapsody - Experience with version control using eg Teamwork Cloud, SVN, GitHub - Experience with DOORS and requirements/architecture linking - Experience with physics-based model or simulation development - Experience with Multidisciplinary Design Analysis Optimization (MDAO) - Experience in working in an agile development environment As a full-time employee of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, you are eligible for our robust benefits package including: Medical, Dental & Vision coverage 401k Educational Assistance Life Insurance Employee Assistance Programs & Work/Life Solutions Paid Time Off Health & Wellness Resources Employee Discounts https://totalrewards.northropgrumman.com/ This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. " Salary Range: $120,000 USD - $180,000 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
