The Payload and Ground Systems Division within Northrop Grumman Space Systems is a strategic partner specializing in delivering intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance solutions for classified and unclassified missions in space. Headquartered in Linthicum, Maryland, PGS RSP has offices, manufacturing, and world-class assembly, integration, and test facilities. We do it all here, on-site, from sensors to payloads to full up spacecraft, supporting Class A to Class D missions. Our key capabilities include Active RF, Passive RF, and Electro-Optical payloads, space solar power, cross domain missions, and space resilience payloads & solutions. Technical lead responsible for developing mission level architectures and lead ing Mission Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) throughout the program life cycle. Responsibilities to include: Lead program trade studies to include constellation design, mission ConOps, space and ground communications architecture, payload aperture sizing and payload performance trades, spacecraft bus GN&C and resource modeling (data, power, thermal, propulsion) trades Development of Mission SEIT (A-spec level) program requirements Development of design reference missions and use case vignettes used for Space and Ground Segment design Development of mission test cases to support payload, bus, space vehicle, ground and mission I&T and mission operations preparation. Development of mission algorithm description documents used for development of ground mission management and space vehicle command and control Support to on-orbit operations Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant technology field with 20 years of relevant experience (18 years with an MS; 15 with a PhD). A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required. Demonstrated experience in space mission systems engineering to include Architecture Development, Performing Trade Studies, MBSE, and CONOPS development. Preferred Qualifications: 20+ years experience within space programs spanning system engineering architecture, requirements development, hardware and software design, verification and test and mission operations to include Space vehicle missions spanning low earth orbit to geosynchronous earth orbit Flight programs across multiple sensor phenomenologies Ground command and control, health and safety monitoring, anomaly resolution, user interface, mission data processing and delivery Space Vehicle IPT leadership, on-orbit payload and spacecraft bus FSW development, space vehicle or ground system integration and test lead role, modeling and simulation of space vehicle to include spacecraft bus GN&C, resource modeling (data, power, thermal, propulsion) and payload operations across a wide range of space engineering disciplines RF payloads EO/IR payloads Narrow and wide-band communications Data distribution and fault management Space vehicle guidance, navigation and control: Attitude and ephemeris determination Attitude slew and tracking kinematics and closed-loop control Space vehicle power systems Space vehicle thermal systems Knowledge and experience in designing RF system architectures. RF Performance Modeling and simulation. Experience in RF hardware, RF communication, and/or signal collection. Desired software experience to include Matlab, C/C++, Python, STK Salary Range: $165,400 USD - $248,000 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
