Development Support Associate, AdvancementThe George Mason University, School of Business invites applications for the position of Development Associate for the Advancement & Alumni Relations department. This position will support programs, events, and activities focusing on donor and alumni engagement. The position will collaborate with University Development, Alumni Relations, University Events Management, University Events Production, hotels and conference venues, caterers and various units within the School of Business. This is a temporary (anticipated dates are August 2022 through December 2022) wage position at the rate of $25 per hour. These events include Building Campaign-related events, and the Annual Business Celebration (300-400 attendees expected). Duties include, but are not limited to: consulting with faculty and administrators to reach event goals, logistics, and financial aspects; managing event budgets and project management flow; contributing to the strategy of event programming (speaker selection and sponsorship ideas); briefing the Dean and other administrators on event objectives and agendas; prospect identification prior to events, cultivation during, and stewardship after (who are the top 10 prospects in the room and how are we ensuring the appropriate business school faculty/administrator connects with them; and meet deadlines established by supervisor;Assists the Director of Advancement in implementing effective ways of engaging Business alumni and managing the Business Alumni Chapter and alumni events. Acts as a contact and resource for Business departments and programs seeking to contact and engage alumni;Generate gift and event attendee/registration reports using ORBIS: To assist in gift and pledge tracking as well as the production of suspect/prospect lists for discovery & cultivation in support of the scholarship campaign priority; andStewardship support: Assist with ensuring that major donors are included in university sponsored stewardship events. Thank event attendees and donors through personal and e-thank you notes.Event SystemsWorks with central Advancement and Alumni Relations to request, build independently, and manage all event registration pages.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience;Intermediate degree of project management experience;Experience with Mason's university donor system (CRM) and the state procurement system (eVA) procedures are a plus;Demonstrated experience managing events in a university setting and working with high-level executives, speakers, or senior-level administrators;Experience working within a fundraising operation; andExperience interacting and negotiating with event venues.
