Westat has a new opportunity available for a Junior Accounts Payable Specialist. In this role you will assist operations, support systems for purchasing, vendor invoice processing, vendor payments, vendor management, expense report processing and related activities. You will be part of a team developing processes during the transition from the existing purchasing and accounts payable system to an integrated procure-to-pay operation.  
This role is based in our Rockville, Maryland corporate office and is eligible to work remotely 2 days per week. 
 
Job Responsibilities:    
•    Ensure accurate, timely, complete, and compliant processing of all related transactions including compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).  
•    Maintain an adequate system of accounting records and controls for relevant areas.  
•    Support closing and reporting requirements including 1099 reporting, audit requests and escheatment. 
•    Process employees expense reports, verifying project coding and obtaining approvals. 
•    Reconcile and allocate monthly corporate credit card statement transactions.  
•    Resolving payables-related issues with internal and external stakeholders.  
•    Prioritizing multiple deliverables in a time sensitive manner with accuracy, using excellent organizational skills. 
•    Ad hoc duties as needed.  

Basic Qualifications:    
•    Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with 0-2 years of accounts payable experience.  

Preferred Qualifications:  
•    Deltek Costpoint experience is preferred.  
•    2+ years of accounts payable working experience in high paced environment.  
•    Working knowledge of P2P process.  

Minimum Qualifications:   
•    Effective communication, analytical and organizational skills with superior attention to detail.
•    Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast paced and constantly evolving work environment.
