As a working supervisor, provides direct nursing services in the areas of maternity service, public health assessment, international travel vaccinations, refugee services, STD and other communicable disease testing, treatment, counseling and follow up, TB screening and treatment, adult and childhood immunizations to individuals, families and targeted at-risk populations in the clinic setting. Provides appropriate nursing interventions based on assessment of clients. Utilizes a variety of nursing skills to meet identified needs of clients in a clinic setting. In consultation with clinic with district office public health nurse manager, provides supervision, guidance and direction to assigned professional staff in the provision of public health services to the community. Manages human and material resources to include clinic scheduling.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education with a bachelor's degree in nursing; plus three years of post-licensure experience as a nurse in an equivalent health care setting whose focus was primarily prevention services and community education, including two years in a public health/community health setting; plus at least one year experience in a public health/community health specialty area or supervisory responsibilities.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Possession of current license or a multistate licensure privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia;
Driver's License;
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - CPR (Required within 60 days);
AED (Required within 60 days).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred candidate will have two or more years of experience working in a public health clinic or community health setting. Experience in community engagement work in health promotion, prevention, or education in the clinic setting. Must have a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information and professionalism in dealing with clients and colleagues. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal abilities to communicate effectively and clearly with a diverse population. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative connections with internal and external partners. Ability to work independently, and in a team environment. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications. Two years of experience supervising professional and/or paraprofessional staff in a clinic setting.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background investigation, a Child Protective Services (CPS) check, a driving record check, and a sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer.

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs may be subject to a weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employee is required to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb stairs and carry equipment or young children up to 25 pounds in weight. Uses hands to grasp, handle or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment. Ability to drive a vehicle. Position frequently communicates and must be able to exchange accurate information with others verbally and in writing. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
