Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a full-time Graphic Designer with proven experience developing a variety of traditional and digital creative materials for large-scale communications campaigns. The Graphic Designer will produce deliverables that help communicate complex topics to a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Work products include, but are not limited to, data visualizations, social media graphics, infographics, flyers, fact sheets, user guides, quick reference guides, Frequently Asked Questions, presentations, reports and more. Candidates with motion graphic or animation experience are strongly encouraged to apply. The Graphic Designer will also assist with defining and influencing strategy and work directly with clients to create concepts and develop designs. He/she must not only lead/support creative development, but to work and communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, proactive problem-solver and action-oriented team player with previous experience translating complex information into plain language. He/she must be committed to providing superior service, poised in a fast-paced environment and have a positive and flexible attitude.

This mid-level, full-time position is currently fully remote. However, the Graphic Designer may be expected to travel to Washington, D.C. or other locations in the United States for meetings, events and trainings.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create, develop and produce innovative creative content for a variety of client-owned channels (e.g., YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, email blasts) on a daily basis.
  • Participate in strategic planning for creative storytelling across channels including websites, newsletters, social media, trainings, briefings and other in-person or virtual events.
  • Manage all aspects of creative production, from concept to distribution.
  • Review all designed products for adherence to Section 508 regulations and remediate errors.
  • Translate complex messaging into visually appealing designs that are easy for audiences to understand and use.
  • Plan, generate and deliver client-ready materials for stakeholders, including client leadership.


Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience supporting large Cabinet-level federal agencies is ideal.
  • Ability to work onsite in Washington, D.C. (or other locations in the United States) as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.


Desired Qualifications

  • Fluent in digital storytelling, technology and delivery.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premiere and/or Final Cut Pro.
  • Knowledge of Section 508 compliance standards and related laws within the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to carry out multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to distill complex information into compelling messages.
  • Strong time management, creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
