Summary This position is in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Legal Division, Office of Litigation.As Deputy General Counsel for Litigation, you will manage the Bureau's defensive and appellate litigation and advise the Director and Bureau's senior leadership and mission units on litigation, mission-related, and reputational risks. You will supervise a subordinate staff of attorneys and paralegals. Responsibilities As a Deputy General Counsel, Office of Litigation, you will:Contribute to and share responsibility for the development and implementation of all key strategic objectives, priorities, and policies of the Legal Division. Participate fully in developing and coordinating policy positions on defined areas of law, and on issues involving coordination with other regulatory and enforcement bodies. The position includes authority and responsibility to perform the duties of the General Counsel's position in his/her absence.Establish highly complex legal programs aligned to a unique CFPB mission while concurrently ensuring legal operations that are fully aligned to emerging policy, processes, and regulatory interpretations of consumer financial protection laws. Develop, implement, and manage systems that provide the necessary resources for conducting the Legal Division's mission.Serve as a principal legal advisor to the Director and other senior officials. Formulate legal conclusions and recommendations and presents findings to senior CFPB management.Recruit and develop leadership in defined legal areas. Contribute to and share responsibility for setting goals and priorities for the Legal Division. Assist the General Counsel in developing and executing legal strategies that detail critical success factors of the Legal Division.Plan, implement, and manage short- and long-range objectives and strategies for building and maintaining CFPB's legal capabilities including business practices, management roles, and performance measures for the program.Travel RequiredNot requiredPromotion Potential81Supervisory StatusYes
