Summary This position is located at Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Legal Division, Office of Oversight.As Deputy General Counsel for Oversight, you will advise the Director and Bureau's senior leadership and mission units on the agency's accountability obligations and management of the Bureau's responses to oversight authorities, including Congress, the Government Accountability Office, and the Inspector General. You will supervise a subordinate staff of attorneys and paralegals. Responsibilities As a Deputy General Counsel, Office of Oversight you will:Contribute to and share responsibility for the development and implementation of all key strategic objectives, priorities, and policies of the Legal Division. Participate fully in developing and coordinating policy positions related to Oversight, and on issues involving coordination with other regulatory and enforcement bodies. The position includes authority and responsibility to perform the duties of the General Counsel's position in his/her absence.Establish highly complex legal programs aligned to a unique CFPB mission while concurrently ensuring legal operations that are fully aligned to emerging policy, processes, and regulatory interpretations of consumer financial protection laws. Develop, implement, and manage systems that provide the necessary resources for conducting the Legal Division's mission.Serve as a principal legal advisor to the Director and other senior officials. Formulate legal conclusions and recommendations and present findings to senior CFPB management.Recruit and develop leadership within the Office of Oversight. Contribute to and share responsibility for setting goals and priorities for the Legal Division.
