N Position Type Management Job Summary The Manager of Pension and Health and Welfare Accounting will be responsible for the financial reporting and accounting of Marriott International, Inc. Health and Welfare and Pension Plans inclusive of the additional Starwood Plans. As a member of the Benefit Resource Accounting area, the Manager is responsible for all aspects of accounting for specific Health and Welfare and Pension Plans. This position will partner with the Senior Manager of benefits accounting to manage the audit and valuations of the Pension and Health and Welfare Plans. Primary responsibilities include financial analysis, reporting, audit and control, asset and liability reconciliation and preparing quarterly and period financial statements. Specific Expected Contributions Preparing period and quarterly financial statements for the Health and Welfare Plans. This includes all asset and liability reconciliations, reconciling custodian account records to the administrator records and preparing various financial schedules required. Coordinate and prepare all required filings for the Health and Welfare and Retirement Plans to ensure compliance with all Department of Labor, IRS and SEC filings. Assist in the audit process of Starwood Retiree Medical Plan which is inclusive of coordinating all information required for annual actuarial valuations and prepared by client work papers. Coordinate and prepare all required pension plan payments to ensure compliance with plan documents. Proactively identify and address any issues that arise. Engage in issue resolution by coordinating with appropriate departments. Provide budget and accounting support for benefit programs. Review financial data and reports generated internally and externally to proactively monitor and manage the Plan's financial status. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of data and reports produced by the department. Identify and monitor key performance indicators with a lens of continuous improvement. Ensure that the Plans are performing, and desired results are being achieved. Manage projects and perform other duties as assigned such as rate calculations, financial analysis, budgeting and legislative issues. Provide benefit accounting support such as reconciliations, monthly billing and journal entries for all benefit programs. Skills and Attributes Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills. Possess a knowledge and understanding of ERISA, DOL and IRS regulations with regards to benefits. Knowledge of generally accepted finance and accounting policies, principles and controls. Demonstrated leadership and team building skills. Possess strong consulting skills and the ability to quickly assess situations, identify gaps and possible solutions. Strong project management/multi-tasking skills; Able to integrate and balance priorities, work activities and resources for the benefit of multiple key stakeholders. Strong commitment to ensuring all projects are completed on accurately and meet required timeline. Champion excellence in business ethics and integrity, social responsibility, cross-cultural effectiveness, and associate engagement Education Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics or related disciplines required. Experience Minimum 5 years of experience in audit, benefit plan accounting or related discipline. Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills. Strong project management skills, ability to prioritize activities and work on multiple projects at once. Strong functional depth in accounting and auditing.
