Summary: Operates horizontal and vertical sawing equipment to specific thicknesses and dimensions. Responsible for the finish, quality, and any other attributes necessary to ensure that only the highest quality product is delivered. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Operator must be able to operate the Femco Saw, Grob Saw, and Do All saw. 2. Operator is required to cut material within the specific ranges determined by the product being cut. (+/- 0.005" on Thickness and +/- 0.010" on EOP when specified). 3. Operator must inspect work to ensure it meets the required specifications before sending it on to the next operation. 4. Operates equipment most safely and expediently, in accordance with established company policies and procedures. 5. Performs operator-level preventive maintenance as required. 6. Cleans the equipment daily. 7. Cleans work area daily. 8. Operates a forklift as needed. 9. Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve scrap and quality issues with assistance from engineering, supervision, and upper-level managers. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 2. One (1) to three (3) years of prior experience in band saws or industrial metal cutting or metalwork. 3. Exposure to close tolerance work, typically within a few thousandths of an inch. Use of calipers and micrometers. 4. Acceptable vision test results (as applicable). Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand: use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
