Automation and Controls Engineer Our client in Reston, VA is in immediate need of an Automation and Controls Engineer. The primary responsibility of this position is developing electro-mechanical control systems for automated machinery. This includes programming responsibilities, manufacturing and testing assistance, adherence to national and international standards, and troubleshooting. This is a contract position with potential to convert to a permanent position. Role and Responsibilities: Write programming code for PLCs, Servos, Panel Views, or other PC based controllers Assist assembly and service with the in-house testing and troubleshooting of control programs and assemblies Prepare electrical function analysis, wiring diagram schematics, control panel layouts, and other instructions as necessary for control equipment manufactured and assembled on-site Size and select electrical and electronic components and prepare bills of material for equipment to be purchased or manufactured Perform control troubleshooting with customers and technicians at job sites and via telephone communication Maintain and advance control technology and optimize control design as practical to balance function, features, and manufacturing cost Assist service and engineering with the field installation and test of new control systems Education and Experience: BSEE and minimum of 2 years controls design experience OR Associates Degree and minimum of 5 years controls design experience OR 8+ years relevant experience programming Allen Bradley controls systems for automated machinery Must have direct experience with the following: Writing and troubleshooting PLC Ladder Logic for Allen Bradley PLCs with Studio 5000 programming skills for Allen Bradley Preferred Experience CAD proficiency with Solidworks (mechanical and/or electrical) Experience with Allen Bradley Powerflex variable frequency drives Programming in NI Labview software TriMech Services is an engineering resource provider specializing in the placement of qualified technical candidates for both temporary and direct hire opportunities.
